There are many references within this site to the history and days gone by of the town. It would be so easy to continue the theme of history here, we have resisted that, and will look at what it has to offer for visitors and residents alike in terms of required resources.

Visitors to Beccles will often comment that " The town is all Gates," indeed there are a number including, Ballygate, Blyburgate, Smallgate, Hungate, Sheepgate, and Newgate.

Where ever you are within the town centre, St Michaels church tower tends to dominate much of the skyline, but it is a splendid back cloth whilst enjoying what the town has to offer. This well loved Market Town centre has much to offer all. There are quality well stocked shopping outlets for clothing, electrical goods, furniture, and exquisite gift ideas to be found.

When ambling around the town, you may be inclined to take a break over light refreshment. There are some quality establishments for you to enjoy, a range of restaurants or fast food centers to suit all tastes. During warm spring and summer days it is so relaxing to wander through the St Michaels church grounds and sit on the bench over looking Puddingmoor below, and the wonderful views of the River waveney and valley beyond. Such views are also to be seen by walking along Ballygate towards the towns Museum.

The town is a hive of activity on most days, a street market may be found each Friday and does much to add to the market town atmosphere. Early closing is on Wednesday each week, but today many of the shops and services remain open all day.

Visitors to the town seeking essential services such as a pharmacy may find this in Boot's near to the King's Head Hotel, the Post Office is in Martin's Newsagents almost next to Boots, whilst the towns Bus Station in in the Old Market Place, from the central church walk past the Westgate store and just a few yards along on your right you will find this location. Public Conveniences are also highlighted within this site.

The town centre stages a variety of the summer Carnival celebrations each year, and is also well served with thousands of lights during each Christmas period.
